Life is about stopping

I don’t regret the things I’ve done, I regret the things I didn’t do when I had the chance.

Earlier this week I was writing about happiness and some of the thoughts around that. In order to have a happy life, it is strange that we need to change a lot of things in our own self. This blog post is about calling out some of the things we need to STOP doing. Here is a quick list, not exhaustive though.

Don’t be afraid to stand for what you believe in, even if that means standing alone.

Stop running from your problems
Stop thinking you’re not ready
Stop living in the past
Stop being negative in your thoughts
Stop trying to hold onto the past
Stop lying to yourself
Stop being idle
Stop procrastinating
Stop yourself from being distracted
Stop spending time with wrong people
Stop fear of failure
Stop doubting
Stop trying to be someone else
Stop being scared to make mistakes
Stop cursing yourself for old mistakes – move on
Stop doing the same thing while expecting different results
Stop making excuses
Stop from saying “Yes” always
Stop your anger before it becomes a danger
Stop trying to buy happiness
Stop expecting people to be perfect
Stop exclusively looking to others for happiness
Stop trying to compete against everyone else
Stop being jealous of others
Stop blaming yourself for doing the right thing
Stop buying things which you will throw anyways
Stop overloading your schedule
Stop holding grudges
Stop being defensive
Stop being materialistic
Stop holding back your reason to praise someone
Stop letting others bring you down to their level
Stop wasting time explaining yourself to others
Stop trying to impress others
Stop being lazy
Stop getting away with “good enough” attitude
Stop overlooking the beauty of small moments
Stop trying to make things perfect
Stop following the path of least resistance
Stop spending mindlessly
Stop blaming others for your troubles
Stop worrying so much
Stop focusing on what you don’t want to happen
Stop being ungrateful
Being happy doesn’t mean that everything is perfect. it means that you’ve decided to look beyond the imperfections.

I am sure you will agree with some of these if not all. Do let me know if you agree with the above. What would be your top 3 which you liked and found striking?

Life is short, live it. Love is rare, grab it. Anger is bad, dump it. Fear is awful, face it. Memories are sweet, cherish it !!!

How to take backup from SQL Azure

Hi All,

From last few weeks I’ve been struggling to take backup of a SQL Azure DB.
I believe many of you might have faced this issue.
As per my knowledge & enquiries till date I come to know that, to take a backup from SQL Azure you need to have the Azure management portal access.

But just now I found a great innovative trick to take a backup from SQL Azure.
Here is the simple guide for “How to take backup from SQL Azure”.

Requisites:
·         SQL Server 2012
·         A high speed Internet Connection

Step 1: Open Management Studio & login to your SQL Azure account.

I believe you’d be seeing your Object Explorer like this (Of course with different database list, if you are not in my project :D).

Step 2: Now right click on the DB for which you want to take a backup à Click on ‘Tasks’ à Click on ‘Deploy Database to SQL Azure’.

Step 3: Now you will be seeing a window like following.

Click on ‘Next

Click on ‘Connect’.
A window like following will pop-up.

Login to your local SQL Server instance.
After successfully logging in you’ll be finding a window like following.

Click ‘Next’.

Click Finish’.
Now your SQL Azure DB will start deploying to your local SQL Server.

Step 4: After successful deployment to your local SQL Server, you simply can take a backup as you take for normal DBs .

I’ve tested this on my machine & it’s working fine.
Hope it’ll work for you as well.

Any queries feel free to revert back.

Using Continuous Deployment to Azure with Team Foundation Service

Guys,

Here are the Steps to Do it

  • Add AzureContinuousDeployment.11.xaml to your BuildTemplates folder if you don’t have it already.
  • If you had to do step 1, then you will need to also register the Azure template for use. Start creating a dummy build definition and select the new template in the Process section. Once you have it there it’s ‘registered’ and you can discard the build definition

  • Get an Azure account (if you have an MSDN subscription you get great free access thrown in)
  • Enable the Websites preview feature under your subscription
  • Create a Website

2.png

  • Go to your website and Set up TFS publishing

3.png

  • Work through the wizard adding the authorization details and choose your Team Project. When you are done the ‘magic’ will happen and you will see the following

4.png

  • Linking it all together
This screen confused me a little. What it doesn’t tell you is that it created a build definition in your chosen project for you. The format is <WebsiteName>_CD

5.png

  • The first thing you are probably going to want to do is edit that builds Workspace Mappings as it defaults to the root of your project, i.e. a checkin ANYWHERE in your team project will trigger the build. (note there appears to be some logic involved here.. see further in the post)

6.png

  • If your Team Project has no solutions, your build definition will not have any Solution to Build defined

7.png

  • Even though the build is not fully defined, if you check in anything to the Team Project it will trigger

8.png

  • and fail…

9.png

  • Let’s add a solution to our Team Project

10.png

  • and check it in…. another CI build will trigger

11.png

  • Behind the scenes, when you checked in that solution file, TFS automatically associated the solution with the build definition….. and if you F5 your website ….. its got the new content!

12.png

  • That was EASY! You also get a log of your deployment in your Management screen

13.png

  • So what happens if we Set up TFS publishing to a team project which already has solutions…
I’ll disconnect TFS in the Dashboard

  • When you do this, TFS will disable rather than delete the build definition it created

15.png

  • If I Set up Publishing again it simply enables the build. I’ll delete the build so we are back to a position where we can compare linking TFS to a project. If I do this, the build definition automatically adds my Solution to it’s template.

16.png

  • Not only that, it actually tried to be clever with the Workspace mappings… that’s cool!

17.png

Thats it...I Know Its a bit lengthy Process But its Cool...and there is one more link which i found very interesting for Publishing to Windows Azure using TFS Check this out !!!

Marks Vs Talent or ViceVersa

From the day 1,We had been told to get success in life we should have a nice marks in exams..Is that all enough???I wanna ask what about them who wants to succeed their careers in any specific field apart from Academics like Dancing,Sports???Does middle class families allows to participate in these fields???
Is it just need to follow what our parents say is it??? Still searching for these answers....

In the Past people were only concerned about the marks how success they could be...may be with the pressure of Parents or with Society !!!

Now Hope Scenario has been changed hope i guess People/Parents allow their kids to go into the specific path which they would be interested !!!

Some Kids/boys can deliver their feelings/frustration outside lead their life in frustration..Is it all necessary???

May the guy or girl who did tremendous in his/her academics now they work for some corporate office and other guy/girl who couldn't be but succeeded in his/her life in according to interest. whom you would vote for ???

Students who get into normal engineering colleges and Students who get into the IITs/NITs what is the difference between them ???

Only difference is marks... and i also agree that marks comes with talent But is it not possible that someone who is not good in academics and is talented...may are still exist in this wild planet...Let we take an example One student who got into IIT/NIT got a package of 10 lakhs and one student who gets into private college got a package of 2 lakhs. Then how would we remove this Big Gap..Although the work they deliver by the end of the day is same.Is there any way to do that???

A Student who did not do good in his academics,It does not mean that he/she is not a good student....

I wanna put this question why companies keep a criteria for any role that he/she has to be 60% through out in his/her academics.

Companies - Talent doesn't come with marks,It comes with inner skills which students never have shown it to external world. It doesn't mean that the students from IITs/NITs are dumb at the same time students from any private colleges are also not dumb...they also have so many innovative ideas..just think you will get to know the exact meaning out of it !!!!

Marks important to succeed in life but Marks are not the only thing to succeed in life !!!

Think folks !!!
